Community Health Department Launches Health Outreach Campaign
A healthcare outreach campaign was launched by Community Health Department, Faculty of Medical Sciences on Sat, 16 Feb 2019. Conducted under the slogan “Fit Mothers, Healthy Children,” the campaign is to last for three days and cover a number of healthcare centers at Sana’a.
The campaign intends to educate mothers over the issues of mother-child concern such as: breastfeeding, breast cancer, feeding baby up to two years, and mother and child vaccination.
A number of important healthcare outreach messages are conveyed via the campaign by the Community Health she-students who could clearly address the targeted mothers with simple terms. They also used many visual aids like brochures and acting some issues out for an effective outreach.
According to Rehab El-Mekhlafi (a third-level student), the present campaign is motivated by the students’ sense of commitment to the community. Raising the healthcare awareness, she maintains, on such issues will certainly abolish the recently out-breaking diseases due to the bad health conditions. Mother and child could protect themselves against those diseases by following a group of rules and the proper health instructions. She, moreover, appreciated the support of Al-Nasser University and the Community Health Department for the campaign.
The campaign is conducted by third-level students, ‘Yemen Health Ambassadors Cohort’ in addition to a group of fourth-level students. The targeted centers are: El-Olufi Center for Mother & Child Healthcare at El-Olufi area, El-Hayah Medical Center at Essunainah area, and Ezira’ah Medical Center at Ezira’ah neighborhood. The campaigners were accompanied on the first day by Mr. Ahmed Mahoub (the Training Officer).
