Medical Labs Dept. Concludes First Aid Training Course

In the presence of Prof Abdullah Tahish (the Chancellor), the Medical Labs Department concluded on Wed, 5 Feb 2020, a first aid training course. Held between Jan 28 – Feb 1, the course was organized by Al-Nasser University in coordination with Yemeni Red Cross Society.
Targeting about 51 students of Medical Labs 2nd level, the course lasted for four days at 3-4 hours a day. It included the following topics: Importance and principles of first aid; the first-aider’s specifics; identifying the types and causes of casualties, the state of the injured person, and the proper first aid to apply; practicing blood draw and injection giving, cannula types and employment; measuring blood pressure, heart pulse, and body temp, cardiovascular & pulmonary resuscitation; and the treatment of choking, bleeding, food poisoning, burns, fractures, traumas, drowning, wounds, etc.
The Chancellor delivered a speech on the occasion in which he stressed Al-Nasser University’s interest in providing the students with the training they need be well-qualified. It is also committed to offer an integral learning that prepares the students to be fit for the labor market.
For his part, Dr. Mukhtar Ezzumor (Head of Medical Labs Department) noted to how recognizing the first aid methods is a must for anyone. Therefore, the University made the First Aid a requirement course for FMS students due to its importance and in order to introduce students to the proper methods and knowledge of first aid. According to him, the Medical Labs department has been organizing annually the first aid course for five years in a row in conjunction with the health orgs and societies so that the students can practice the theoretical knowledge.
The event included a number of purposeful shows in the presence of FMS heads of departments, staff members, students, and the training team members of Yemeni Red Cross Society. It was concluded with presenting certificates of appreciation to coordinators and certificates of participation to participants as well.
