Al-Nasser University Holds Seminar on Yemeni Youth Qualification in Cooperation with Yemen Community Center

Under the auspices of Mr. Hussein Hazeb, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a seminar was held on Mon, 15 Feb 2021, by Al-Nasser University under the motto, “Qualifying Yemeni Youth: National Cause and Social Responsibility.” The seminar was organized in Cooperation with Yemen Community Center.

The event was held in the presence of Minister of Higher Education, Prof. Ali Sharaf-Eddeen, Vice-Minister of Higher Education, Prof Abdullah Tahish, the Chancellor of Al-Nasser University, Mr. Abdulhameed Elhadi, a member of the Shura Council, Mr. Arif Erraza’, Head of Yemen Community Center, and Mr. Shumbani Huri, Head of Sudanese Forum.

The seminar intends to help 30 needy students pursue their study in a number of academic specialties at Al-Nasser University. This is the first phase of the project which would start in Sana’a to cover later on the other Yemeni governorates and comply to fair selection standards so as to achieve its goal.

During the event, Mr. Hazeb praised the initiative of Al-Nasser University and Yemen Community Center to give the Yemeni youth the medical and technical qualification that they need to contribute to the national development. He, moreover, appreciated the contributions of the Yemeni abroad communities, namely in America and Europe, to support the national economy of which the present scholarship grant is an example.

The Vice Minister pointed out that above 750,000 Yemeni immigrants in America, including well-known scientists and surgeons, contribute to the national economy. He valued the positive response of the abroad communities to the scholarship initiative of Al-Nasser University and the Yemen Community Center.

For his part, Prof Abdullah Tahish, the Chancellor noted that granting scholarships to the needy students to help them study the specialties required in labor market is the best way to achieve a sustainable development and eradicate poverty. He confirmed the University’s readiness to embrace any initiative that would serve the youth and improve the community’s economic, scientific and social status. He presented his sincere thanks to the Yemen Community Center as well the Yemeni immigrants who benevolently prove their commitment to their nation and national fellows.

The seminar’s program includes: a slide presentation about Al-Nasser University made by Prof Anwar Masoud, Head of the Center of Development and Quality Assurance; the University’s English speech to abroad communities delivered by Ms. Layla Errazza; the video speeches of Mr. Fath Naji Alayah, Head of Yemeni Community in New York, Mr. Abdullah Errazza, Head of Yemeni Community in California, Mr. Ahmed Naji Errazza, Representative of Yemeni Community in Belgium, and Mr. Abdullah Elwashali, Representative of Yemeni Community in Los Angels; in addition to the speech Mr. Mohammed Ali, Head of Training at Yemen Community Center. All participants emphatically expressed their support for the initiative so that it can cover the national territories. They all agree that it serves the nation and gives its people a chance to prove their commitment to its wellbeing.

The event was organized at the University’s headquarter in the presence of Secretary General, dean of faculties, heads of departments, faculty and staff members, representatives of communities and Sudanese forum, and a large number of the university students. The program, hosted by Ms. Suad Elkhulaidi, was concluded by handing thankful certificates over to Minister and Vice Minister of Higher Education as well as the Head of Yemen Community Center in recognition for their interest in the initiative.
