Graduation Research Viva Voce Held at English Department

In the presence of Prof Abdullah Tahish, the Chancellor, the 8th viva voce session day of the 2021/2022 graduation research projects by translation students was held at English Department, Faculty of Humanities, on Wed, 15 June 2022.

At the outset, a speech was delivered by Prof Tahish in which he greeted the participants and gave a special welcome to Prof Hussein Elbahji, Chancellor of Azal University, who attended as a chief guest. Prof Tahish confirmed the importance of graduation research projects that crown the bachelor’ stage and testify to the skills and qualification the students gained from study. He also praised the proficiency by which the students presented and defended their research papers and wished them the best of success.

The session comprised the viva of two research groups. The topic of the 1st research group was “Challenges Encountered by Senior Translation Students in Translating legal terms” supervised by Ms. Sumayah Elmatari. The topic of the 2nd research group was “On-sight Interpreting Constraints Encountered by 3rd Level Students” supervised by Dr. Munir Al-Aghberi.

In a speech given by Dr. Mohammed Shawqi, Dean of Humanities, he appreciated the great efforts made by the head of English Department towards refining and improving the educational quality to meet the requirements of the labor market.

For his part, Dr. Munir Al-Aghberi, Head of English Department, expressed his sense of pride over the graduate students’ excellent performance while presenting and defending their papers. He also noted to the well-organized research papers that were prepared in accordance with the research methodology and precisely achieved the intent objectives.

The viva voce session was held at the University’s headquarter in the presence of Prof Omar Eshuja (Dean of Development and Quality Assurance Center), Dr. Mohammed Shawqi (Dean of Faculty of Humanities), Dr. Fahd Elkhayat (Dean of Faculty of Administrative and Financial Studies), Dr. Munir Al-Aghberi (Head of English Department), Mr. Salah Eladlah (Head of Administrative Studies Department), in addition to Dr. Ahmed Elbakri (the external examiner) who talked in high terms about the excellent research papers as well as the students’ performance.
