11th Scientific Conference Viva Sessions Concluded at FMS

Under the auspices of Al-Nasser University’s Board, the final session of the 11th scientific conference for 2021/2022 graduation research viva voce was held by Faculty of Medical Science. The session took place on Thurs, 28 July 2022, concluding the conference held between July 26-8 with the participation of the students graduating from the departments of Pharmacy, Medical Labs, Nursing, and Community Health.

The present session comprised eight research groups from Pharmacy, Nursing, Community Health, and Medical Labs departments. At the outset, a Community Health research group presented a paper on “The Psychological Effects of Air Raids on the People Living in the Capital City of Sana’a.” The committee consisted of Dr. Mohammed Eshahethi (the supervisor), Dr. Abduraqeeb Elhannani (the internal examiner), and Dr. Abdulkhaleq Mo’ezib (the external examiner).

Thereafter, a number of researches were presented by Pharmacy students. The examiner committees consisted of the supervisors (Prof Omar Ehuja, Dr. Mohammed Elathra’i, Dr. Mukhtar Ezzumor, and Dr. Wedad Mansour), the internal examiners (Prof Abdulkareem Ezzumor, Dr. Abduraqeeb Elhanani, Dr. Wafa Elmath-haji, and Dr. Wedad Mansour), and the external examiners (Dr. Aref Ezzadeen, Dr. Amar Omar, and Dr. Anees Thabit).

The research papers presented by Pharmacy students included the following topics:

  1. Formulating and Examining the Anti-microbe Chemo-herbal Activity of Spurges
  2. Preparing and Examining the Efficiency of a New Formula for Acne Control and Skin Whitening.
  3. The Effect of Probiotics and Sweet Pepper Mixture for Chemically Induced Improvement of IBS in Mice.
  4. Evaluating the Pharmacy Professionals’ Knowledge and Practices related to the Risks of Pregnant Women’s Use of Medicines in Sana’a, Yemen.

During the session, Prof Omar Eshuja, Dean of Development and Quality Assurance Center, commended the research groups’ interest in the choice of the topics which points at the highly scientific and practical skills acquired by them during their study at FMS.

Thereafter, a number of research papers were presented by Nusing students. The examiner committees consisted of the supervisors (Dr. Abduraqeeb Elhanani, Dr. Nada Ismael, and Dr. Mohammed Elaqmur), the internal examiners (Dr. Abduraqeeb Elhanani, Dr. Mukhtar Ezzumor, and Dr. Mohammed Eshahethi), and the external examiners (Dr. Afrah Ethubhani, Dr. Nada Ismael, and Dr. Mohammed Elaqmur).

The research papers presented by Nursing students included the following topics:

  1. Knowledge and Practices of Intravenous Cannula by the Nurses Working in Ethawrah Hospital-Sana’a, Yemen.
  2. ECG Knowledge and Practices by the ICU Nurses during 2022 in Sana’a, Yemen.
  3. Knowledge, Inclinations and Practices of the Pneumonia Associated with Artificial Respiration by the ICU Nurses at Public and Private Hospitals in Sana’a, Yemen.

Dr. Abduraqeeb Elhanani, Head of Nursing Department, stressed that the viva session made it a scholarly day par excellence, particularly the presented papers were typical and tackled a number of issues related to the health status in the fields of Nursing, Pharmacy, and Community Health.

The final viva session of the 11th scientific conference was held at the FMS’ Grand Hall, Al-Nasser University, in the presence of Prof Omar Eshuja, Dean of Development and Quality Assurance Center, Prof Abdulkareem Ezzumor, FMS Dean, heads of departments, faculty and staff members, students from the FMS variable programs along with their parents.
