First Aid Session at Faculty of Medical Sciences

A training session on first aid is organized by Faculty of Medical Sciences at Al-Nasser University in partnership with the Yemeni Red Crescent Society (YRCS) over a week—from April 27, to May 1, 2014.

The session involves nearly 130 students from various disciplines: Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health. It aims to equip them with necessary skills and expertise in the field of first aid.

In a statement, Adel Ali Thamir, the Director of Media and Publication at YRCS, pointed out that this session comes in the context of the successive sessions carried out by the Society at the Capital City of Sana’a. The program intends to create a paramedic in every home through the training of cadres capable of providing first aid to their community.

For his part, Dr Abdulkarim Alzomor, Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, talked about the coordination between the faculty and the YRCS to implement this session at the University. It would augment the curriculum practical along with the First Aid Paper prescribed in core and optional for students as per the departments’ syllabus. He also thanked the YRCS for being in cooperation with the University.

Jayash Abdullah Mohammed Qaid, a Pharmacy Fifth-level student, pointed out that participation in this session is necessary as it supports the different areas of specializations at the college. “I have participated,” he stated, “in the session to acquire new skills and experiences in the field of first aid including: injury treatment, giving injections, and how to deal with emergencies.” Jayash thanked the Faculty’s Deanship for conducting and hosting such beneficent programs.

Both Dr, Fadhl Abdullah Alkhulani, the Chairman of YRCS-Sana’a, and Dr. Abdulkarim Alzomor, Dean of Faculty of Medical Sciences attended the session’s opening.
