Celebration in Honor of Orphans at Al-Nasser University

A celebration in the honor of a number of orphans coming from Sana’a’s Orphanage has been organized by Al-Nasser Laboratory Students in coordination with the General Directorate of Orphans’ Care and Rehabilitation. Commemorated on April 29, 2014, the event is part of the Orphan Day activities arranged by students in conjunction with the Arab Orphan Week.

During the celebration, a number of artistic performances were presented by Om-Alqura Schools. Speeches also were delivered addressing the orphans’  complaints as well as their right to have a dignified life. Dr. Saeed Alghalibi, the University Chancellor, gave a speech in which he expressed his sense of appreciation to the General Directorate of Orphans’ Care and Rehabilitation for the support provided to orphans in various fields.

 He pointed out that the University has a deep belief in supporting such strata of the community and, thus, it always seeks to establish an effective partnerships with those interested in charity and development. As part of its commitments, the University offers scholarships for orphans. The Chancellor invites civil organizations to work collectively towards ensuring a secure future for orphans.
Thereafter, both the Chancellor and Director of Student Activities Department, Mr. Ali Alhamati honored the orphans and handed over gifts to them.
Student Asrar Alsuroori declared, “We have prepared a charitable meal at the University with proceeds going to orphans and collected money within two weeks from students , staff,  and parents.  Food and supplies for orphans will be bought by the collected money.”
“We have made a visit,” she maintained, “to the Sana’a’s Orphanage and stood upon the tragic situation of orphans there. We have noticed their need for help in all fields, especially that of health. We have, therefore,  communicated with Alawlaqi Laboratories who offered money  and conducted free tests for orphans.”
For his part, Mr. Ali Alhamati thanked the University’s administration as well as its students for this initiative which positively raises the orphans’ morale.
