Graduation Research Projects Viva Inaugurated at FMS

The scholarly week started off at Faculty of Medical Sciences last Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016 under the auspices of the Chancellor. Throughout the week, the final-year students of Lab, Pharmacy, and Public Health shew up in viva sessions to defend their 2015/2016 capstone projects.

The examined researches comprised a variety of topics related to the fields of Pharmacy, Laboratories, and Public Health. The researchers were keen to tackle the health issues of public concern.

Prof. Abdullah Tahish noted that the research papers display the students’ educational attainment as well as the University’s academic standard. Praising the FMS’s outcome that gives Al-Nasser a credit in labor market, the Chancellor stressed that the University aspires for a higher academic quality and international name. He pointed out that the best research papers will be published in the Journal of Environment and Sustainable Development Studies issued by Al-Nasser in conjunction with Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils (FASRC).

For his part, the FMS’ Dean, Dr. Abdulkareem El-Zumor, explained how the scientific research has ever been the cornerstone of any nation’s development. According to him, the researches prepared by the students surpassed the modest material requirements as well as the current difficult circumstances.

The first viva sessions were held in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Saif Muharram (CBT), the Chancellor, the FMS Dean, Director of Quality Unit, Heads of Departments, supervisors, and a large number of students.

Making data-show presentations on their topics, the students had thereafter to clarify the questions raised by the committee of examiners.

Dr. Yasser El-Madhaji, Head of Pharmacy, noted how the papers could come up with new findings that raise the public awareness against such health problems as the misuse of antibiotics without consulting physicians.

Dr. Ibtisam El-Moayad, Head of Laboratories Department, highlighted the importance of the research papers in qualifying the students well to pursue their postgraduate studies. The University is interested in the quality and the methodology so that the researches prepared can stand in line with those of well-known universities.

Dr. Abdurraqeeb El-Hanani, Head of Public Health, confirmed that the studies touch upon actual health problems, define their reasons, and suggest solutions. They certainly contribute to improving the public health services.

Organized by Research and Training Office, the viva voce sessions were to be conducted throughout the week at the Grand Hall, Faculty of Medical Sciences.
