“Special Practical Training Skills” Workshop at FMS

In the presence of Dr. Ahmed Saif Muharram (CBT) and Prof Abdullah Tahish (the Chancellor), a workshop on “Special Practical Training Skills” was organized by Faculty of Medical Sciences, Al-Nasser University. Targeting the FMS’ demonstrators and practical technicians, the workshop was held last Sat, Jan 27, 2018.

Dr. Saleh Bahaj (the Instructor of Microbiology & Immunology at Faculty of Medicine, Sana’a University) gave a lecture that tackled the following topics: the features of an outstanding demonstrator, the importance of practical training, and the mechanism and assessment of practical training. He concluded with a number of valuable rules that demonstrators and technicians have to consider when they give training.

In his speech, the Chancellor noted to the significance of practical training as a key to medical studies. According to him, the idea of the workshop arose from the targeted trainees’ need for skills that would foster their performance. He confirmed the University’s sense of pride over achieving its main goal of providing the market with qualified professionals. He also appreciated the considerable contribution of the University’s staff to implementing the above goal.

Dr. Anwar Maso’ud (Director of Quality Unit) talked in his presentation on the plans already carried out by the University on preparing some programs’ specification and course description according to the standards assigned by the Council of Academic Accreditation & Quality Assurance. Dr. Maso’ud concluded with a list of guidelines and instructions for demonstrators and technicians to keep and follow.

Dr. Abdulkareem El-Zumor (FMS Dean) pointed out to Al-Nasser’s keen interest in being updated with the most recent educational progress both theoretical and practical. He cited such examples as the upgrading of curricula, the large labs well-equipped with devices and experimental substances, and the field training and visit program.

Attendees to the workshop held at FMS’ building included heads of departments and staff members. It was concluded with handing thankful certificates over to the demonstrators and technicians in recognition of their distinctive efforts in teaching practical classes.
