Al-Nasser Students Donate blood to Thalassemia Patients

As part of the blood donation campaign, the students donated blood to thalassemia patients at El-Jumhori Hospital, Sana’a. The donation campaign was launched last week by the University in association with National Foundation for Thalassemia Patients in the presence of the CBT, the Rector, the Dean of FMS and representatives of public and private hospitals.

The blood donation was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Ibtisam El-Moa’yad, Head of Laboratory Dept, and Mr. Ahmed Mahoob, Director of Research and Training.

Blood tests were first made to over 30 students before taking blood to ensure that they meet the necessary conditions of donation.

The Director of Research and Training, Ahmed Mahoob, confirmed that the donation campaign carried out by the students was meant to help save a number of patients in need of blood. He highlighted the University’s will to continue such community service activities.

He pointed out that another campaign would be shortly launched in cooperation with 48 Hospital and Centre for Blood Research. He also remarked on a number of similar activities that will be carried out very soon and praised the management of El-Jumhori Hospital for contributing to the campaign’s success.

For her part, Dr. Ibtisam appreciated the humanitarian role played by the University’s students as well as Youth Vision Initiative which could successfully add to the relief of thalassemia patients.
