ANU Aids Thalassemia Patients
A delegate of Al-Nasser University visited on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 the headquarter of Yemeni Society for Thalassemia Patients (YSTP) at Ma’een District to aid the society and patients.
Medicines and medical aids were presented by the delegate to the thalassemia patients. The visit took place as a sequel to the charity bazaar organized by ANU under the slogan, “the nation is well as they are well” the proceedings of which went to procuring some of the YSPT patients’ medical needs.
The delegate was membered by Mr. Ali El-Thayfani (Secretary General), Dr. Mukhtar El-Zumor (Head of Medical Labs Department), and a number of Lab & IS students. Upon their arrival, they were received by Dr. Mukhtar El-Qubati (Chairman of Thalassemia Patients Center), Mr. Ali Essamadi (the Center’s superintendent & branches director), and Dr. Ahmed El-Maqrami (YSTP executive officer) in addition to staff members.
The delegate toured the YSTP sections and had a look at the facilities and services offered by each section including Emergency, Labs, Clinics, and Pharmacy. Meeting a number of thalassemia inpatients, the delegate listened to Dr. Muhammed El-Hejri (an Al-Nasser alumnus) as he explained the nature of the medicine the patients need as well as the importance of the aids presented by ANU.
Mr. El-Thayfani noted that supporting such societies is a social and humanitarian responsibility that Al-Nasser feels strongly committed to.
Dr. El-Zumor asked the Society’s staff to do their best to help the patients since theirs is an honorable humanitarian job.
For his part, Dr. El-Qubati appreciated the ANU’s support and thanked the participating students. He noted to the importance of conveying the YSTP’s message that pre-marriage checkups are necessary to control the outspread of thalassemia. He also confirmed that such a visit enhances the sense of the Society’s patients and staff that they are not lonely.
