ANU Partakes in Winter Sports Forum Organized by Wahdat-Sana’a Club

In the presence of Prof. Abdullah Tahish (the Chancellor), Al-Nasser University took part in the inaugural ceremony of  the Winter Sports Forum organized by Wahdat-Sana’a Club. The event took place in the stadium of Wahdat-Sana’a Club on Thursday afternoon, 17 Jan 2019.

Prof Tahish noted that Al-Nasser’s participation in the forum sprang from its keen interest in enhancing its active contribution to the different communal activities. It also confirmed the University’s awareness of how important sports activities are to develop the students’ capabilities and talents.

The representatives of the participant clubs, universities, orgs, orphanages, and institutions attended the event in addition to a number of sport celebrities. The delegation of Al-Nasser University comprised the Chancellor, Prof Abdullah Tahish, Mr. Adam El-Tharhani  as a media officer, and Mr. Murshid Al-Aghberi as a sports officer.

About 800 sportsmen belonging to the various clubs of sports at Sana’a, universities, companies, foreign communities, orphanages, civil orgs, institutions, and schools of Sana’a would participate in the event that would last for two months. The sports played include: football, basketball, tennis, taekwondo, judo, karate, and boxing in addition to culture and female activities. The forum aims to bring out as well as refine the participants’ talents.

The inaugural ceremony that opened with a carnival show in which the sports teams form an art picture figuring the name of their beloved nation Yemen was followed by a football match held between the teams of El-Ahli and El-Yarmouk. The gamed ended with the former team winning by 4/0.

Al-Nasser University is to participate with its football team which have been selected based on the players’ performance in the internal football league under the command of Captain Mohammed Khurais. The latter appreciated the University’s participation in the sport activities externally organized. He, moreover, promised the team’s fans to keep high the name of Al-Nasser University in the competition.
