CDQA Holds “Effective University Teaching Strategies” Workshop

In the presence of Prof Abdullah Tahish, the Chancellor, a training workshop was organized by Center of Development and Quality Assurance, Al-Nasser University. The workshop was held on Thurs and Sat, 26-28 August, 2021 at the University’s headquarter under the slogan “Effective University Teaching Strategies.”

Targeting about 90 participants from Al-Nasser University’s faculty members, the workshop aimed to improve the participants’ knowledge and skills over the effective strategies of university teaching in addition to how to practice them so as to help the faculty do their instructional jobs competently and efficiently.

At the outset, a speech was delivered by Prof Tahish who greeted the attendees. He noted to the important position of Al-Nasser’s faculty members because they represent the key factor for educational quality. They are worthy of appreciation and thanks in return for their endurance and commitment to job in spite of the undergone hard situation. He confirmed the University’s will to pay them back, as possible as it can, their rights in recognition of their academic status. He maintained that the present event was the result of his agreement with Dr. Omar Eshuja’, CDQA Dean, to conduct training sessions for the faculty with the purpose of enriching their experience and, thus, improve the University’s educational quality and outcomes as well.

For his part, Dr. Omar Eshuja’ pointed out that faculty members are the cornerstone of the University. They skillfully deliver the scientific material to students and refine their professional and practical abilities. Their impact on the University’s outcomes is vital, so their concern must be repaid. The present workshop is just a first step of many in store activities planned by CDQA and approved thankfully by the Chancellor to develop their talents. The plan covers many aspects of training for the academic and administrative staff members in addition to sustaining the University’s technical sectors.

The workshop trainer was Dr. Abdulhameed Eshuja’, the Vice Dean for Quality Matters at Faculty of Languages, Sana’a University. The workshop covered the following topics: education and learning; traditional vs. modern teaching; the concepts of strategy, method, and style; the key strategies of teaching with examples; and how to improve our lecturing. The workshop included many individual and group activities, practices, and valuable discussions that enriched the participants’ expertise.

The workshop was held at the University’s headquarter in the presence of Mr. Ali Ethayfani, the Secretary General. It was concluded with handing participation certificates over to attendees and an honor certificate to the trainer, Dr. Abdulhameed Eshuja’ in appreciation of his excellent performance.
