Course Description Workshop by Quality Unit

Under the auspices of Al-Nasser University, a workshop was organized by Quality & Academic Accreditation Unit under the motto, “Course Description according to the Standards of Council of Academic Accreditation & Quality Assurance.” The workshop was held in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Saif Muharram (CBT) and Prof. Abdullah Tahish (the Chancellor) Dec 30, 2017.

The workshop intended to introduce the participants to the key concepts of the course description and planning in accordance with the specific learning outcome. It also trained them in the necessary skills to analyze and draft the course description as per the standards of the Council of Academic Accreditation & Quality Assurance.

Tackling three main topics, the workshop comprised three training sessions that dealt with the significance of a course description and contextualization, guidelines for designing a course description, formatting the course’s learning outcomes & assessment strategies.

According to Dr. Anwar Mas’oud (Director of Quality Unit), Al-Nasser University has gone a long way in academic accreditation. A series of workshops were organized to foster the departments’ strategic plans, program specification, and upgrading the curricula so as to go in line with the quality and academic accreditation standards.

For his part, Dr. Abdurraqeeb El-Hannani (head of Nursing Department) pointed out that observing the benchmarking medical standards in upgrading the learning outcomes and course description would typically improve the medical learning. The result would be a real-life practice that must help offer the most sufficient and satisfying healthcare services.

The participants in the workshop that was held at the University’s headquarter comprised deans of faculties, heads of departments, and faculty members from the various academic programs.
