Development and Quality Assurance Center Holds Workshop on “Reviewing and Upgrading Bachelor of English-Translation Program”

In the presence of Prof Abdullah Tahish, the Chancellor, a workshop was organized by Development and Quality Assurance Center at Al-Nasser University under the title, “Reviewing and Upgrading Bachelor of English-Translation Program.” The workshop was held at the University’s headquarter on Tuesday, 29 Nov 2022.

Giving an address at the outset of the workshop, the Chancellor greeted the participants and confirmed that the University aimed at having outcomes that keep pace with the local and regional labor market. Based on this objective, the University has had its curricula designed in accordance with the templates of the Council of Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance the steps that may qualify the University to apply for the international accreditation.

For his part, Prof Omar Eshuja, Dean of Development and Quality Assurance Center, pointed out that Al-Nasser has been wholly committed to improving its programs and outcomes to meet the requirements of the labor market. Therefore, the programs it offers have been upgraded to keep pace with the rapid developments on the one hand and meet the standards of the Council of Academic Accreditation on the other.

The workshop included a presentation by Prof Mohammed Esharjabi, the Chancellor’s Counselor for Academic Accreditation and Supervisor of Computer Programs, on the significance of reviewing and upgrading academic programs. Another presentation was made by Dr. Munir Al-Aghberi, Head of English Department, in which he gave an overview of the English-Translation program. The participants, thereafter, formed the brain-storming groups to review the missions, visions, and objectives, of the department and program as well as the program’s learning outcomes. The program’s course plan was also reviewed to meet the requirements of the labor market.

Participants in the workshop comprised: Dr. Ibrahim Tajuddeen (Head of Translation Center at Sana’a University), Dr. Abdulwadoud Ennuzaili (Head of English Department at Faculty of Languages, Sana’a University), Dr. Ahmed Erruba’ei (Secretary General of UNESCO National Committee), Dr. Abdulhameed Eshuja (a faculty member at English Department), Mr. Ali Ethayfani (Secretary General), Prof Mohammed Esharjabi, the Chancellor’s Counselor for Academic Accreditation and Supervisor of Computer Programs, Prof Omar Eshuja, Dean of Development and Quality Assurance Center, Dr. Fahd Elkhayat (FAFS Dean), Dr. Qais Ennuzaili (FECS Vice Dean), Dr. Munir Al-Aghberi (Head of English Department), a group of the English Department’s faculty members, representatives of the labor market, and a number of the Department’s graduates and 4^th level students.
