Wednesday, 07 March 2018

A health promotion campaign was conducted by Community Health Department at FMS, Al-Nasser University on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Organized under the slogan ” Clean Home,” the campaign targeted a number of schools at Ma’een District.

The campaign intended to raise the students’ health awareness over the importance of personal as well as public hygiene. It also cast light on the individual and environmental risks resulting from the negligence of hygiene matters.

According to Dr. Abdurraqeeb El-Hanani (Head of Community Health Department), health outreach is a principal field of the community health discipline. He maintains that the present campaign has been carried out to disseminate certain significant hygiene concepts amid school students and to promote the proper practices so as to keep up health and eliminate diseases.

To drive home to students the intended health messages, the campaign program was distinguished with many activities and methods including: delivering lectures, handing over brochures, implanting trees, and sticking posters on schools’ walls.

Ms. Muna El-Hubaishi (the health official at El-Rasheed School) noted to the significance of the campaign slogan as it enhanced the students’ health habits. Praising Al-Nasser students’ commitment to their mission, she hoped that such activities would go on towards leaving good effects on community.

Mr. Faris Hezam (CBT of El-Nahrawan Schools) exposed his admiration for the campaign’s theme and content. He pointed out that such an activity gave a strong sign of the students’ sense of commitment to community and their interest in its ongoing wellbeing as well.

For her part, Ms. Rehab El-Mekhlafi (a Community Health sophomore student) explained how choosing the campaign’s theme arose from the logic that hygiene makes up two thirds of health. The recent outspread of many epidemics could have been avoided and controlled only through hygiene. She thanked the ANU board and the head of the Community Health Department for their support.

Targeting the schools of El-Rasheed, El-Nahrawan, and Taybah at El-Sunaynah, the three-day campaign is carried out by the Community Health sophomore students, the cohort identified as “Yemen Health Emissaries.”
