Medical Labs Department Concludes 10th First Aid Training Course

In the presence of Prof Abdullah Tahish, the Chancellor, a function was held on Tues, 31 Jan 2023, by Medical Labs Department at Faculty of Medical Sciences on the occasion of completing the 10th training course in first aids.

The Chancellor gave a speech in which he greeted the participants and noted that Medical Labs specialty is the cornerstone of the medical system. As a result, Al-Nasser University is committed to equipping students with the significant skills to help them do their jobs perfectly. He extended words of thanks to the Head of Medical Labs Department, students, and whosoever contributed to the success of the event.

For his part, Dr Mukhtar Ezzumor, Head of Medical Labs Department, pointed out that the current course is organized annually to cast light on the importance of being skilled in first aids so as to handle various emergencies not only by medical professionals but also common people. He also stressed that making health services more sufficient is a goal to which Medical Labs Department feels committed and implements through promoting its graduates’ skills towards bettering off the community’s sustainable health system.

About 44 students of Medical Labs 2nd level were targeted by the training course which was tutored by Dr. Fuad Radhwan, the Training Officer at Yemeni Red Crescent Society. Lasting for three days at 6 hours a day, the course included the following topics: first aids fundamentals, first aider’s qualities, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and first aid methods for bleeding, trauma, chokes, burns, injuries, bone fractures and casts, moving and wrapping, giving the variable injections, and blood pressure and biomarkers measurement. The course focused on the practical of the above topics.

The event’s program included a number of purposeful shows presented by level two students on the first aids and medical labs specialty. It was honored with the company of Mr. Ali Ethayfani, Secretary General, Prof Khaled Elhadad, Dean of Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Wafa Elmath-haji, Head of Pharmacy Department, some faculty and staff members, and students from Medical Labs 1st and 2nd levels as well as other FMS departments. It was concluded with handing over thankful certificates to the course coordinators and participation certificates to participants.
