First Aid Session at Community Health Department

In the presence of Prof Abdullah Tahish, the Chancellor, a First Aid training session was held at the University’s headquarter on Monday, 17 February 2020. The training session was organized by Community Health Department in conjunction with Sehati Health Training Center.

The session’s topics included such First Aid principles as: examining the casualty, first-aiding steps, and life-saving basics. The trainees learned how to treat the various cases such as: choking, bleeding, poisoning, fractures, traumas, drowning, injuries, cardiovascular & pulmonary resuscitation, etc. They also practiced blood draw, injection giving, cannula types and employment, measuring blood pressure, heart pulse, and body temp, as well as making allergy tests.

In the conclusion of session, the Chancellor gave a speech in which he stressed the importance of First Aid principles not only for students but also for all community members in general. A casualty, that might happen suddenly, needs an immediate first-aiding. From another perspective, he noted to the key role community health specialists play in educating people over such issues.

For his part, Dr. Mohammed Esh-shahethi, Head of Community Health Department, pointed out that the 2^nd, 3^rd, and 4^th level students were targeted by the session. According to him, it enhances the students’ real-life experience in their major as they get a chance to practice their theoretical classes.

The event was concluded with handing a thankful certificate over to the trainer, Dr. Ahmed El-Qubati of Sehati Center. Participations certificates were also given to the trainees in the presence of Dr. Abdulkareem Ezzumor, FMS Dean, Dr. Anwar Maso’ud, Director of Quality Unit, Dr. Mohammed Esh-shahethi, Head of Community Health Department, Dr. Mukhtar Ezzumor, Head of Medical Labs Department, and Dr. Saffeyah Erruzami, Training Responsible.
