Pharmacy Seniors: ANU Football League Champion (2017/2018)

In the presence of Prof. Abdullah Tahish (the Chancellor), Pharmacy Seniors Team was crowned as Al-Nasser football league champion for 2017/2018 academic year as it beat Accounting Juniors (last year champion) in the final game held last Monday on Al-Sha’b club playground.

The match started with much of fervor as both teams wanted to score first. The first goal, however, was scored by Mohammed El-Maqas of Pharmacy whose passed ball hit the opponent defenders to settle in their own goal. The Pharmacy intensified their charges that resulted in another goal by Emad El-Kumaim’s skillful header. The first half ended with the 2/0 result.

Accounting could show a better control of the game during the second half making many attacks and misses against Pharmacy. The latter’s fortified defense, however, failed to block Accounting’s first goal scored by Waleed El-Dhela’i. Accounting’s several attempts thereafter to tie the result were frustrated by the Pharmacy’s strong defense. The match ended with a 2/1 result declaring the Pharmacy’s victory.

The final game was held in the presence of Dr. Mohammed El-Kuhali (FAFS Dean), Dr. Yasser El-Math-haji (Head of Pharmacy Department), Mr. Saleh El-Adlah (Head of Business Administration Department), Mr. Fathi El-Okabi (Director of Students Affairs), in addition to staff members and fan students.

The league tournament was concluded with the crowning ceremony. The Chancellor rewarded Shehab El-Math-haji (the league superintendent) and Nabeel El-Jamali (the referee). Medals were also handed over to both teams’ players. The best-player award was given to Emad El-Kumaim whereas the league’s top-scorer award to Mohammed Khurais. Finally, the League Cup was handed over to Pharmacy Seniors Team amid the players’ and fans’ celebrating cheers.
