PhD Awarded to Jawad Alwabr

The open viva voce of the PhD thesis entitled “Environmental Management of Medical Waste in Sana’a Public Hospitals” presented by Jawad Muhammed Abdu Alwabr was held on Sep. 18, 2014 at Jamal Abdunasser Hall, Sana’a University. The panel of examinees was comprised of Prof. Ahmed Saif Almikhlafi, Prof. Nabeel Ahmed Alshwafi, and Prof. Nada Alsayed Hasan Ahmed. Many academicians, research scholars, and students attended the event in addition to mass media.

In his presentation, the research scholar highlighted the medical waste as a commonly fatal phenomenon. His thesis tackled many dimensions of the problem including: management of the medical waste, its health and environmental consequences, and the epidemical effects on public health and environment. Notably, the thesis is considered as the first to deal with such a topic.

Dr. Jawad is currently working as a lecturer of Public and Environmental Health at Al-Nasser and other private universities in addition to supervising a number of term projects.
