Rotary Evaporator Launched at Pharmacy Department
As part of Al-Nasser University’s interest in creating a study environment equipped with the educational aids necessary to raise the students’ learning and facilitate their achievement of researches, a new device (Rotary Evaporator) was launched at Pharmacy Department, Faculty of Medical Sciences.
The device is used in Chemistry labs for efficient and smooth removal of solvents by means of evaporation. It dries the solvents used to extract samples under low temperature and pressure. It also protects the samples against the decomposition, oxidation, or loss of effective materials due to high temperature.
According to Dr. Wedad Mansour (Instructor of Drugs at ANU), the device is important for research work in general and Drug subject in particular. Providing the labs of Pharmacy Dept. with such a device will facilitate conducting the research work by students who used to face many difficulties when experimenting with the same device out of the university.
Dr. Faten Aqlan (Instructor of Organic Chemistry at ANU) gave a detailed explanation on how to handle the device in the presence of Dr. Abdulkareem Ezzumor (FMS Dean) Pharmacy superintendents, and lab technicians.
