Sana’a University Awards M Sc. to Al-Nasser’s Alumnus, Thekra El-Zubairi
The research scholar, Thekra El-Zubairi, was awarded M Sc. degree in Biochemistry from the Vice-Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies, Sana’a University for her thesis entitled “Prevalence Rate of Latent Autoimmune Diabetes of Adulthood (LADA) and its Symptoms with Type-2 Patients.”
The thesis concluded that the prevalence rate of LADA in Yemen is lower than the results concluded by the previous studies conducted on the Middle East and that there are no significant gender-related differences. Metabolism syndrome was also found less with LADA rather than type-2 patients the evidence that denies any relationship between metabolism syndrome and LADA. Furthermore, LADA patients share with type-2 ones their resistance to insulin though they tend to be more susceptible to pancreas’ beta-cell disorders due to stimulus increase.
Casting light on the causes and symptoms of LADA, the study aims to help reduce the disease’s prevalence, give LADA patients an early insulin treatment, and setting up a safe, effective treatment strategy.
The viva voce was held at Faculty of Medical Sciences, Sana’a University. The panel of examiners comprised: Dr. Mulhem El-Hadhouri (Main Guide), Dr. Ryadh Saif (Co-guide), Dr. Ali Ahmed El-Hajj (External Examiner), and Dr. Ibtisam El-Mu’ayad (Internal Examiner).
It is noteworthy that the research scholar Thekra El-Zubairi is an alumnus of Al-Nasser University who graduated from Lab Department with an excellence grade. In a statement, she pointed out that Al-Nasser is the best practical university in Yemen with competent faculty members. It offers a quality learning as well as eminent academic degrees that help students achieve their goals.
“I feel so proud,” maintains Ms. El-Zubairi, “to be one of Al-Nasser alumni. It has a good name that makes it comparable to state universities. The easy process by which I could pass the entry test and join the M Sc. program at Faculty of Medical Sciences, Sana’a University made me sure of Al-Nasser’s excellence. I, therefore, extend a word of thanks to Faculty of Medical Sciences, Al-Nasser University for their contribution to the M Sc. degree I have been awarded.”
