Seminar at Public Health Dept. Commemorating Arab Environment & World Food Days

In the presence of Dr. Ahmed Saif Muharram (CBT) and Prof. Abdullah Tahish (the Chancellor), a seminar with the slogan “Public Health Discipline: Reality & Ambition” was conducted by Public Health Department, Al-Nasser University on Tuesday, Oct 17, 2017.

The seminar intended to highlight the public health discipline, its various scopes, and the career opportunities of its specialists.

According to Dr. Muharram, such a major is comparable to other medical disciplines. The graduates, therefore, have to gain the skills which would qualify them enough to do their job and typically fulfill their commitments toward the community.

Prof. Tahish pointed out to the University’s current work on upgrading the program specification and course description of Public Health so as to meet the University’s goals of having graduates capable to properly deal with and help control the arising health problems.

Dr. Abdurraqeeb El-Hanani (Head of Public Health Dept.) presented a paper that introduced the discipline and traced its history. He also discussed the important role of the Public Health specialization, its position in health system map, and the various careers its graduates may occupy. He, moreover, cast light on the department’s academic and scientific structure that help students to continue their postgraduate studies.

In his paper, Dr. Jawad El-Wabr (Instructor of Public health & Environmental Safety), elucidated the different areas of Public Health including: environment, environmental and professional safety, health care, school hygiene, nutrition, health statistics, outreach, environment and water sanitation, health management, etc.

The seminar was held at Faculty of Medical Sciences, Al-Nasser University in the presence of heads of departments, faculty and staff members, in addition to FMS students.
