Students’ Visit to UST Hospital Labs

Laboratory students have paid a scientific visit to the labs of University of Science and Technology Hospital where they were warmly received by Head of Lab Dept, Dr. Mahmoud Elazab, and Dr. Waleed Elsabri. Conducted on November 20, 2014, the visit was organized by Department of Research and Training at Faculty of Medical Sciences.

The visit takes place as part of the field-training plan implemented by Department of Research and Training which takes an active interest in practical learning. During the visit, students were briefed on the various sections and functions of the UST Hospital Labs each by the technician in charge of.

At Tissue Section, students could identify how tissues are examined while at Biology Section they got familiar with the process through which the DNA analysis is done. Likewise, students moved around the other lab sections enriching their experience with the specific function of each section.

Such a visit aims at the first place to raise the students’ practical knowledge as well as to develop their professional skills by means of adding applied experience to the theoretical learning they acquire at class. Al-Nasser University has always paid attention to field training as an essential step towards success and excellence. It offers life-like opportunities to students who can enhance their experience with real professional expositions and thus possess the competency required for assuming a leading role in future career.

The students were escorted during the visit by Dr. Ahmed Mahoub, Director of Research and Training at FMS, and Dr. Ibtisam Elmu’ayad, Head of Laboratory Department.
