Total Station Device: Typical Addition to FECS Lab
As part of Al-Nasser University’s interest in keeping pace with the latest technical updates on educational aids as well as providing an integrated environment to enhance the theoretical and practical learning, a Total Station device has been procured for Faculty of Engineering and Computer Sciences. The device represents a typical addition to FECS since it is the first local college to install the device for its academic programs and let students work on it.
The Total Station is a distance measurement device that incorporates a number of integrated devices. It is one of the cutting-edge technologies that help measure distance up to 1000 meters at 2 arc-seconds without reflector and 5000 meters with reflector. In addition, it has a program to display the points prior to import/export that employs such connection means as Bluetooth, data cable, removable memory, etc. Beside the over 10 integrated programs, the device includes many other specifications which can be browsed here.
According to Mr. Basheer Elmaswari (an FECS faculty member), the device helps keep pace with the updates of engineering profession, namely civil engineering and architecture. The device is also capable of connecting to the other engineering applications via computer to facilitate doing the designing and sketching projects. He, moreover, confirmed that the device helps students acquire the professional and practical skills they need for future career.
