Monday, 07 April 2014
The national campaign of vaccination against Polio has been launched Sunday in Sana’a by Ministry of Public Health in collaboration with Alnasser University. The three-day campaign would give Polio vaccines to around 4,884,630 children below 5 years all over the country. The campaign is carried out by 40,784 health workers of which 2,650 members work in fixed teams while 38,134 in mobile teams.
In a statement, Dr. Ahmed Saif Muharram, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, confirmed that the University’s participation in this campaign comes to substantiate its deep belief in the need to contribute effectively to protecting Yemeni children against the life-jeopardizing polio. He stressed that the University never flinched from supporting the national campaigns as well as the health and development projects leading to the wellbeing of the nation and fellow-citizens alike.
On his part, Dr. Alsaffy No’man thanked Alnasser University for the continuous support to the Public Health Office-Sana’a appreciating the University’s prominent role in backing such campaigns up and, thus, protecting the younger generation against epidemics and deadly viruses.
The precautionary campaign aims to keep Yemen free of polio and to prevent the revival of the virus due to the polio epidemiological situation in the Eastern Mediterranean Region that has been free of the virus for a long time.
